THE INSIDER

Published: 30 Jun 2009 - 12:34:06

Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the biggest (and littlest) transfer moves this summer. His column, published every weekday, offers an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why. A 5/5-rating means The Insider reckons it's a done deal; 0/5 means The Insider has his mortgage on it not happening. Don't miss your daily instalment of The Insider every weekday through the transfer window here at MailOnline.e Alvaro Arbeloa Liverpool to Real Madrid - The Insider says: 5/5The Spain full back was locked in talks last night and deal is expected to be completed today for £5m plus £3m based on performances. It will represent good business for Liverpool after they paid little over £3m for him. The main business now boils down to the two clubs coming to an agreement on a fee for Xabi Alonso with Liverpool looking for £30m. Ferrie Bodde Swansea to Bolton - The Insider says: 2/5The Dutch midfielder held talks with manager Paulo Sousa last week and said he would be in for pre-season training but he failed to show yesterday. He will be fined two weeks wages and may jeopardise a move to Bolton or Wigan as Swansea vow to get tough. The Championship club rejected a £2.5m bid from Bolton last week and will continue to rebuff offers, bearing in mind he still has two years left on his contract, until he conforms. Darren Bent Tottenham to Sunderland - The Insider says: 2/5Tottenham will have to be realistic over their asking price for Bent. He may be an England international and only 25 but Harry Redknapp has made it clear he is not first choice and clubs won't pay over the odds for cast offs. Sunderland are also conscious they have been stung before over Tottenham reserves and are yet to see a return on their money nor are they likely to. £12m plus £4m in add-ons is more achievable rather than £18m. Sunderland would be willing to make that work and so may Aston Villa, Fulham, Everton, Bolton or even Blackburn at a pinch. Dean Ashton West Ham to Stoke - The Insider says: 2/5 West Ham are looking to step into Hull's deal for Marc-Antoine Fortune but may need Dean Ashton to re-evaluate his goals before they can finance it. Stoke want to do a deal and so do West Ham but their is a big difference in figures at the moment. Ashton is a good player but has to prove he can last a season without niggly injuries. Luck plays its part but clubs won't take a chance on big wages in current climate. Kolo Toure Arsenal to Manchester City - The Insider says: 4/5Sportsmail readers will be well aware of this deal the only question has been when. Reports in Germany now say Arsenal have opened negotiations with Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci over a £7m move. Tasci is 22 and can play right back or centre half. Juventus and AC Milan have also watched the German international who is recovering from a knee injury but Arsenal would be his preferred choice. City will then press ahead with a £12m deal for Toure who has one year left on his contract.
