20 August 2010 06:53
We may only be less than a week in to the new Premier League season but already a new order is starting to emerge as the Firing Line returns.[LNB]Martin O'Neill may have left Aston Villa on the eve of the campaign but more are sure to go after a quarter of last season's managers ended up moving on.[LNB]Paul Hart was first to leave last season at the fairly late stage of November but there have already been a couple of alarming starts. The question is which club will hit the panic button first?[LNB]Each week we bring you our latest chart of the managers under pressure, and those on Easy Street. Here's Sportsmail's sack-race rankings - otherwise known as the Firing Line...[LNB][LNB]1Wigan- Roberto MartinezCould have been forgiven for being inexperienced after last season's embarrassing 9-1 and 8-0 defeats to Spurs and Chelsea. But an opening 4-0 thrashing by Blackpool set the alarm bells ringing.[LNB] 2Sunderland- Steve BruceWill be furious his team let in a late equaliser to throw away a two-goal lead at home. His burst out of the blocks last year saved him from the chop but will he need the safety net of a good start again?[LNB][LNB]3BirminghamCity - Alex McLeishTook advantage of Sunderland having a man sent off, showing great character by battling back from 2-0 down to secure a draw late on. But is he totally happy with his ability to spend this summer?[LNB]4Blackburn- Sam AllardyceA winning start from Big Sam eased any pre-season nerves the fans had. But with a new owner on his way, who knows what the future holds for the former Bolton and Newcastle man?[LNB]5WestBromwich - Roberto Di MatteoThe Baggies play good football, but it was not enough to save them from relegation last time and if a similar pattern starts to emerge this year, the club may look for someone else.[LNB][LNB]6ManCity - Roberto ManciniWas lucky to survive after the failure to qualify for the Champions League. Spent a fortune on players but was lucky to escape with a point at Tottenham and laboured to a win at Euro minnows Timisoara.[LNB][LNB]7Newcastle - Chris HughtonWelcome to the Premier League! After breezing the Championship, Newcastle were given a hiding by Manchester United. A difficult start but owner Mike Ashley isn't famed for his patience.[LNB][LNB]8Stoke City - Tony PulisWorked wonders at the Britannia but will be hoping the heavy investment in record signing Kenywne Jones pays dividends - especially after being injured just 15 minutes in the defeat to Wolves.[LNB][LNB]9West Ham - Avram GrantWas blameless for the demise at Portsmouth but a poor performance in the 3-0 defeat at Villa were the kind of results that got his predecessor Gianfranco Zola the chop. Bolton up next. [LNB][LNB]10Wolves- Mick McCarthyDid a fantastic job in keeping Wolves up last season and a rare opening day win for the club has given them a new layer of confidence to push on this season.[LNB][LNB][LNB]11Liverpool- Roy HodgsonHas made a comfortable start - unlucky not to have defeated Arsenal after Pepe Reina's blunder but will hope failure to kill off Trabzonspor at Anfield will not come back to haunt him next week.[LNB][LNB]12Bolton - Owen CoyleEasily guided the Trotters to safety in the previous campaign but wants to turn them from a long-ball team in to a more entertaining side. Sammy Lee tried and failed but Coyle is so far doing well.[LNB][LNB]13Everton - David MoyesManagers can't legislate for goalkeeping errors but even so the Toffees' were toothless in attack at Blackburn. Moyes has been here before though and will no doubt start picking up decent results.[LNB][LNB]14Tottenham- Harry RedknappWill be disappointed to have not beaten Man City but also alarmed by his side's recent Champions League slump against the Young Boys. Knows his side have to improve with Stoke up next.[LNB]15Fulham - Mark HughesNear enough impossible to match the feats of Roy Hodgson and already set to lose star goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. Promising draw away at Bolton is a reasonable start with Manchester United next up.[LNB][LNB]16Blackpool - Ian HollowayIf there was one man you would back to walk on water right now, Holloway is him. A dream start and, although a season of struggle lies in wait, he can do no wrong right now. Big test at Arsenal next.[LNB][LNB][LNB] [LNB]17Chelsea- Carlo AncelottiLeague starts don't get better than winning 6-0 but after the double success, fans, board and manager will have their main focus on winning that elusive maiden Champions League title. Wigan next up.[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB]18Arsenal- Arsene WengerA new deal at the club speaks volumes of the trust placed in him but with a trophy cabinet that has only collected dust in the last five years, he knows the club expects more.[LNB]19Man United - Sir Alex FergusonOnly he will decide when he leaves the club but it seems like the man will not rest until he has eclipsed Liverpool's record of 18 league titles and equalled Bob Paisley's three European Cups.[LNB]XAston Villa - *vacant*Kevin MacDonald showed there is life after Martin O'Neill with a great performance in the 3-0 win over West Ham and grabbing a 1-1 draw in Vienna, a result over Newcastle could see him land the job.[LNB][LNB]
