AS everyone knows, I'm a big fan of referees... and it hasn?t taken them long to steal the spotlight this season. The fact that Rob Shoebridge missed Crystal Palace's goal against Bristol City was laughable. The Palace players were cuddling each other, the City players were pointing the finger at each other and the away fans were cheering, so how could the referee not realise it’s a goal? I know what it feels like when refs make a mistake. I’ve always been prone to 10 seconds of madness when you call them everything under the sun. I was playing for Liverpool and we were 1-0 down at Manchester United when we were awarded a late penalty by Keith Hackett ? yes, that Keith Hackett ? only for him to change his mind. As you can imagine, I went ballistic. It’s all right him saying sorry to Palace now he’s in charge of referees but he never said sorry then! One of the problems now is that you can’t communicate with referees like we did in my day. I remember telling Roger Milford ‘ with his perm and fake tan ? that he was having a nightmare and he said, ?Look at the scoreboard son, you’re losing 3-1, so who’s having the nightmare? F**k off!? The game has got quicker and there’s more pressure on referees than ever, but if they admit to their mistakes that’s often the end of the argument. Harry bringing cheer to Spurs Two of my old clubs met at White Hart Lane on Sunday and although Spurs got a great win against Liverpool, I still think they?re a couple of years away from challenging the top four. Fifth or sixth is their most realistic target this season. I’ve played under Harry Redknapp at West Ham and he makes players believe they’re the best. He talks to you like a mate and there’s no beating about the bush with him. As for that other north London club, Arsenal are firing on all cylinders after their 6-1 win at Everton ? so I think Celtic will be panicking tonight. I’m sure the Gunners will qualify for the Champions League group stage. Let us know what you make of Razor's comments...
