Ten possible football transfers waiting to happen this summer

1. Fernando Torres Despite not being on top form for what seems like an age now, Fernando Torres has been linked with a move away from Anfield ever since the Premier League season ended, most notably with interest coming from Chelsea and Manchester City. Torres' new manager at Liverpool, Roy Hodgson, has dismissed all speculation over the player. [LNB]2. Cesc Fabregas The Arsenal captain has been linked with a move to his hometown club of Barcelona for a number of seasons, and this summer speculation has never been higher. Having won the World Cup with a huge contingent of Barcelona players, and even publicly wearing the club's shirt (even if he was forced to), a move at the moment worth roughly £30m must seem very tempting for the lifelong Barca fan. Javier Mascherano The Argentine workhorse has publicly come out and expressed his desire to leave Liverpool. Mascherano desperately wants to rejoin Rafael Benítez, his former manager, at Inter Milan because he says that his playing style matches Benitez's managing style. Reports suggest a deal could be worth up to £25m. [LNB]4. Mario Balotelli The temperamental but gifted Italian teenager looks almost certain to be joining Manchester City in the coming days. The City manager Roberto Mancini is keen to be reunited with Balotelli, who he managed at Inter in 2006, and a fee of over £25m looks likely to be the price for the striker. [LNB]5. James Milner The 24-year-old Aston Villa midfielder has intimated that he would like to leave the Birmingham-based club for the big-spending Manchester City. Reports suggest that City are not willing to pay more than £24m for Milner, but Villa seem to be holding out for £30m. [LNB]6. Luis Suarez One of the few villains to come out of the World Cup, Suarez, the impressive striker who scored 48 goals in 49 games for Ajax last season, seems to be wanted by Spurs even though Ajax want in the region of £30m for him. [LNB]7. Ricardo Carvalho The Portuguese defender has said that it would be 'a dream to be able to play for Madrid'. An added incentive for Carvalho is the fact that his former Chelsea and Porto boss Jose Mourinho, is also now the manager at Madrid. The price is understood to be a relatively cheap £5m pounds. [LNB]8. Rafael van Der Vaart The Dutch playmaker, has found it difficult to secure a starting place at Real Madrid especially with all the signings being made this year and last. Interest from Liverpool and Chelsea has provoked a response from Van der Vaart saying the prospect of first-team football 'may prove impossible to turn down'. [LNB]9. Mesut Ozil One of the stars of the World Cup, Mesut Ozil has been quite a popular man on his return from South Africa with interest coming from big clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Real Madrid. Spurs surprisingly seem to be the favourites, with Ozil's club Werder Bremen wanting a minimum of £15m for the midfielder. [LNB]10. Sami Khedira The German midfielder who also had a storming World Cup, looks to be on the verge of signing for Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid, and in the process snubbing Chelsea and Manchester United. His club Stuttgart have placed a transfer fee of around £15m on his head which Madrid seem willing to pay. [LNB]
