Team of the Week 10/4/12
A massive few days for the sides in the title race as the Easter weekend threw up a selection of big results.
Manchester United were at home to Queens Park Rangers while rivals City travelled to Arsenal.
Here is the Football.co.uk Premier League team of the week.
Position : Goalkeeper
John Ruddy (Norwich City)
The Norwich keeper has been impressive this season and has been talked about as a possible member of England's Euro 2012 squad. Despite not making an impression during his spell at Everton, he had an excellent game against his former club, earning Norwich a 2-2 draw.
Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)
The Serbian defender scored his fourth in three games. His controversial goal gave Chelsea the lead at home to Wigan and he backed it up with a superb block on the line against Wigan and a solid showing against Fulham two days later.
Elliott Ward (Norwich City)
The former West Ham defender has forced his way into Norwich's back four after missing the start of the season through injury. Ward put in two solid displays against Everton and then in the 2-1 win away at Tottenham on Monday.
James Collins (Aston Villa)
The experienced Welsh international held the fort for Villa under pressure from Liverpool. Collins will be vital for Villa during the remainder of the season. Alex McLeish's side have been ravaged by injuries and Collins will need to stay fit to keep the young back-line together.
Alex Song (Arsenal)
The Cameroon star was vital in Arsenal's win over Manchester City. He provided the perfect defensive cover for Arteta and Rosicky and helping his side secure an excellent victory.
Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle United)
For the third week running the French winger makes it into the team of the week, and rightfully so. He scored a terrific solo effort during the 2-0 win over Bolton and was also influential in the win over Swansea just a few days earlier.
Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
Arteta has had to work hard to win over Arsenal fans, following comparisons to former Gunner Cesc Fabregas. His performance against Manchester City was very much like that of the Barcelona midfielder. He scored the decisive goal that could have ended City's title hopes.
Paul Scholes (Manchester United)
Bringing Scholes out of retirement may have been the catalyst in United's surge for the title. The former England star has inspired his team to the brink of winning their 20th league title and scored his third goal since his comeback during the 2-0 win over QPR.
Clint Dempsey (Fulham)
The American has now scored 16 times in the Premier League this season. His spectacular free-kick at Bolton was followed up with a devastating display and another goal against the trotters and a late equaliser for Fulham against West London rivals Chelsea on Monday.
Nikica Jelavic (Everton)
Since signing from Rangers in January, Everton have been rejuvenated. His ability to put the ball in the back of the net is something that Everton have severely lacked in recent times. The Croatian forward scored twice during the 2-2 draw with Norwich on Saturday.
Papiss Cisse (Newcastle United)
Another weekend and another three goals for the Senegal international. Two neat finishes against Swansea were followed up by another against Bolton. Cisse now has the best minutes/goal ratio in Premier League history and at £10million could be described as one of the best signings.
