Spurs, City and Arsenal on alert after Real Madrid reveal Higuain will leave
Tottenham failed in a bid to sign the Argentine last summer and Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez said: 'In a great club like Real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.'
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are continuing to monitor Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini as they formulate their summer rebuilding plans. Xabi Alonso could also be sold in the summer.
Gonzalo Higuain, 25, joined Real Madrid from River Plate in 2007 and has scored 104 goals in 185 league games for the Spanish giants.
Despite being born in France, he plays international football for Argentina because his father was Jorge Higuain who also played for Argentina, but was neutralised in France enabling his son to own a French passport.
However, Gonzalo Higuain decided to play for Argentina and has had a successful international career representing his country 32 times and scoring on 19 occasions. He was also Argentina’s top scorer at the 2010 World Cup.
