Spurs can qualify for Champions League, insists upbeat Bassong

Despite their disappointing 3-0 weekend defeat at the hands of bitter north London rivals Arsenal, Sabastien Bassong is certain that Tottenham can contend for a season-ending fourth-place finish.

The defender, who arrived at White Hart Lane from Newcastle in the summer, is set to spend a month on the sidelines after limping off with a hamstring injury at the Emirates to compound a frustrating afternoon for manager Harry Redknapp.

And despite dropping to fifth in the table, three points behind third-place Gunners who have a game to spare, Bassong believes Spurs have enough quality at their disposal to turn things around and stage a firm bid for Champions League football next term.
