Spurs and Chelsea eye Beckham as Capello insists he must quit LA Galaxy

Fabio Capello has warned David Beckham that his World Cup dream is dead unless he secures a return to Europe this winter. Capello stuck by the 34-year-old last year when recommending Beckham make a controversial loan move from the Los Angeles Galaxy to AC Milan for the second half of last season. And the England manager says the 112-cap veteran must strike a similar deal again this year or forget about about going to South Africa next summer. 'Beckham knows well that if he doesn't return to a big European championship in December he'll have no chance for the World Cup, 'Capello told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. Beckham and AC Milan are keen to renew their relationship if the price is right, but Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also keen on him. Arsenal have previously opened their training ground to him. New Stamford Bridge boss Carlo Ancelotti was particularly impressed by Beckham's work ethic when the Italian was in charge of AC Milan last season. The comments do not come at the best time for the former Manchester United man, who is trying to build bridges after widespread questioning of his commitment to the game in the States. Beckham stunned world football in January 2007 by announcing he would leave Real Madrid for LA in a multi-million dollar move. But he struggled on the pitch and moved to the San Siro on loan at the end of the 2008 MLS season in a move that was supposed to last for about six weeks. However, Beckham stayed on till the end of the Serie A season, missing the 2009 MLS kick-off. On his return this summer he was roundly booed and has clashed with fans, though he insists he is committed to the Galaxy, where he has more than two years left on his contract.
