Sol could be offered Gunners role
However, Wenger has had enough of seeing the Gunners linked with a string of potential signings just to make headlines.[LNB]Former England defender Campbell has been training at the Gunners' Hertfordshire base since leaving Notts County.[LNB]The 35-year-old is free to resume his playing career after ending his contract dispute with the League Two promotion hopefuls at the start of this month.[LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson has already ruled out the possibility of a move for Campbell, but it remains something Wenger could consider, with a strong bond still between the centre-half and the club he left for Portsmouth in the summer of 2006.[LNB]Much may depend on the future of Swiss international Philippe Senderos, currently sidelined by a foot injury but out of contract at the end of the season and who was on the verge of joining Everton in the last window.[LNB]"We have a level of interest for every good player," said Wenger, when quizzed on the possibility of signing Campbell again. "He trains very hard."[LNB]While bringing Campbell back to Arsenal may come to fruition before the January transfer window closes, Wenger must endure at least another couple of weeks of seeing the Gunners linked with a number of players - with West Ham striker Carlton Cole, Crystal Palace youngster Victor Moses and Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain the latest in a long list of reported targets.[LNB]Wenger said: "Speculation goes well at the moment. Sometimes people are very creative and imaginative.[LNB]"I have a big respect for the press in general, but some people are just not serious.[LNB]"They sit behind their desk and they think 'what kind of stupid idea can I create' and the next day you have to answer that stupid idea. That is not really serious."[LNB]With Holland striker Robin van Persie sidelined for the best part of the remainder of the campaign, Wenger is keeping an "interested eye" out for possible replacements.[LNB]However, with Nicklas Bendtner on the comeback trail from a groin injury and England international Theo Walcott also set to return from a side strain, Wenger does not believe his squad are too light in attack.[LNB]"If I find a really good opportunity we will do it but, for the rest, wait and see," he said.[LNB]"If we have Bendtner, [Carlos] Vela, Eduardo, [Andrey] Arshavin and Walcott coming back available, then we have quite a good number of strikers.[LNB]"We can be a bit more relaxed."[LNB]Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a big-money move away from Emirates Stadium.[LNB]Wenger, though, insists: "We have a long-term plan to be a winning team - and Cesc Fabregas is part of that.[LNB]"We have worked very hard with all of our players, and they all have a very long contract commitment."[LNB]The Arsenal manager added: "Here we have sport as priority number one.[LNB]"We can keep thinking like that because we have a healthy management and are not in financial need.[LNB]"I have always fought for the club to be in a strong financial position because I feel in any decision we make must have the footballing interest of the club first."[LNB][LNB] Arsenal v Everton.
