That was then: Sol Campbell the Tottenham skipper[LNB]You'd be forgiven for thinking that as Sol Campbell picked up his losers medal in Paris after Arsenal had lost the Champions League Final to Barcelona in May 2006 that the imposing centre-back had made his last appearance for the Gunners. [LNB]Not so. He is set to complete his return to for Arsene Wenger's side as cover for William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen and help the north London club's push for the Premier League title - there's even been talk of an England recall - the mind boggles. [LNB]Still, Campbell enjoyed his most successful playing days under Monsieur Wenger after his acrimonious departure from rivals Tottenham but will his career enjoy an Indian summer at the Emirates?[LNB]Sportsmail takes a look at the returning hero's best moments with the Gunners.[LNB] Leaving the LaneTottenham fans may want to look away now but there's no doubting the best thing Campbell did for his career was leave the Lane. [LNB]Spurs has just replaced another manager in 2001 as George Graham was replaced by Glen Hoddle and yet another period of transition beckoned but Campbell wanted trophies - and that's what he got. [LNB] Opinion was hardly divided about Sol Campbell's move from Spurs to Arsenal[LNB]In just three years at the Gunners he won as many league titles as their north London rivals managed in their history. Ouch.[LNB]You've got that double feeling His first season at Highbury was certainly one to remember, instantly thriving alongside captain Tony Adams, Campbell helped Arsenal to the club's third 'double' and instantly doubled the tally of trophies he won with Spurs.[LNB] FA Cup glory: Tony Adams and Sol Campbell in 2002[LNB]In the league, Campbell made 31 appearances as Arsenal conceded less than a goal-a-game, winning the title by a comfortable seven points ahead of Liverpool and in the FA Cup, Chelsea were dispatched in the Final after fine goals from Freddie Ljunberg and Ray Parlour.[LNB]Mr InvincibleThe club's proudest moment? Arguably. Campbell's greatest achievement? Certainly. A record that is unlikely to ever be matched any time soon - Arsenal won the title without losing a game, a record built on a rock-solid defence.[LNB] Unbeatble: Sol Campbell celebrares winning the title for Arsenal - at Tottenham[LNB]The 2003-2004 campaign saw the Gunners concede just 26 goals, by far the fewest in the fewest in League and they went and won the title at White Hart Lane, too. He knows how to rub it in. [LNB]Heading for glory in Paris? So very nearly the crowning glory of a hugely successful five years with Arsenal, Campbell's headed goal in the 37th minute of the Champions League Final against Barcelona came close to making the Gunners European Champions.[LNB] Final fling: Sol Campbell (right) heads Arsenal ahead in the 2006 Champions League final against Barcelona[LNB]The backdrop to the final was grim for Campbell who had disappeared down the tunnel at half time in the match against West Ham and wouldn't turn out for Arsene Wenger's side for another 10 weeks - personal problems were cited as the cause. [LNB]Still, he returned in time to win his place back for the final and, although he ended on the losing side, he is in a small band of five Englishmen to have scored in a Champions League Final. [LNB]Hammered HomeIn front of a few hundred fans at Upton Park, he made his return for the Gunners in a reserve match, looking a little out of shape but as imposing as ever. [LNB]Campbell's back and is yet to write his final Gunners chapter.[LNB] Back in the fold: Sol Campbell back in an Arsenal shirt against West Ham[LNB] Sol Campbell set for £20,000 a week Arsenal return after reserves run-outPICTURE SPECIAL: Sol Campbell back in an Arsenal shirt againAs Sol Campbell prepares to re-sign for Arsenal, Sportsmail's guide to players who shunned the advice: Never go backSandro agrees £6.5m move to Spurs but Brazilians try to delay doing dealTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC
