Snood watch: Rio Ferdinand's cold war with the top-flight softies

After we named and shamed the pampered players in snoods and gloves last week, they were out in force again yesterday.

Rio Ferdinand, whose Manchester United team were frozen off at Blackpool, spoke for many about the unnecessary cold-weather gear when he said: 'If you see me play in them white tights (Emmanuel) Eboue wore last week I'll allow a drop-kick to my head . because I'd have deserved it!'

But Eboue's Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has changed his tune, saying: 'Samir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh had stiff necks before the Aston Villa game so our medical staff were trying to protect them.'
