Silvestre setback for Gunners
30 Jan 2009 - 09:06:13
Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre has suffered a setback in his bid to return from a thigh injury.
The 31-year-old Frenchman was close to making his comeback from an injury he picked up in the first half of the Gunners' FA Cup third-round victory over Plymouth Argyle on January 3.
But manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the France international is facing another three weeks on the sidelines after a setback in his recovery.
"Silvestre has had a little setback so he will be two or three weeks more," he told Arsenal TV Online.
Meanwhile, Wenger has admitted he will make changes to the side that was held to a 1-1 draw at Everton in midweek for Saturday's visit of West Ham United.
He added: "We don't think we have any new injuries from the game at Everton.
"Looking at the players today, I don't think there is anything to announce.
"I will change things a little bit because we play on Tuesday but this game against West Ham is very important to us.
"I will make changes but I don't want to disrupt the side too much."
