Senderos backed to improve

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists defender Philippe Senderos' best years are still very much in front of him. It looked at one stage over the summer like Senderos' Gunners career was nearing an end with Everton holding talks for his signature. Senderos spent last summer on loan with AC Milan and is yet to feature this season following the capture of the impressive Thomas Vermaelen. The Switzerland international has already made over 50 Premier League starts for Arsenal, although Wenger believes it is now a new start for the 24-year-old. Senderos is set to make his first start of the season in Arsenal's Carling Cup clash against West Brom on Wednesday and the French boss insists he is only going to get better. "In this job you have always to be ready and the day you get the chance you can do well," he told the club's official website. "If you are not ready, everybody will say he is not good enough for the level, to play for Arsenal. Now Philippe is back with us, so we will just give him a chance. "I don't believe he is starting his career again because we know how good he is, but it is a new start, let's say. "He is still very young for a centre-back, he's 24-years-old and he has the future in front of him. The best 10 years are now coming for him."
