Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expects to be without William Gallas for the rest of the domestic season after he suffered a recurrence of a calf injury.
Gallas, 32, lasted half an hour of his comeback appearance in Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League quarter-final first-leg stalemate with Barcelona at the Emirates Stadium.
Gallas went down in a heap in the first half and was stretchered off in a blow which manager Arsene Wenger believes will keep him sidelined until the end of the Premier League season.
However, Wenger claims the 32-year-old defender will be fit for France's World Cup campaign in the summer.
Gallas had missed Arsenal's last eight games before returning to training this week and being named in the starting line-up to face Barca.
"The rest of the season is compromised for him," explained Wenger.
"He pulled his calf again, so it was a gamble that probably didn't pay off.
"It's the end of the season - I'm talking about Arsenal but I think he will be ready for the World Cup."
