Schneiderlin focused on top four finish despite agreeing terms for Emirates switch

Morgan Schneiderlin has made no secret of his desire to play in Europe's biggest club competitions and it seems that Wenger, who is known to be a fan of the midfielder has struck a deal to bring the player to the Emirates in the summer.

Schneiderlin has just returned from injury and is determined to help the club return to winning ways and help the club that has now fallen to sixth in the League.

The Saint’s are understood to be looking for £25million to do business and if the reports are true and the personal terms are already settled then it’s just a matter of the two clubs agreeing a transfer settlement.

Schneiderlin himself has been vocal about the club finishing in the top four and thus earning the Southampton a tilt at the Champions League themselves next season. The club however have been without a win in their last three matches and host Palace tonight:

"We have been in the top five since August - so why not?"

"Now is the time to see the character of the team and everyone to take responsibility and show what we can do," he said.

"Other teams have more experience and are used to this type of pressure. People are not expecting Southampton to be in the top four."

Wenger is keen to add a defensive midfield player to the team and with some suicidal defending looking like it could define their season it’s easy to see why.
