Rivals handed last four tie
19 Dec 2007 - 22:20:23
North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will go head-to-head in the last four of the Carling Cup following the draw for the semi-finals.
The two clubs will lock horns in the Premier League this weekend but will now face off again in a two-legged semi-final showdown in the new year.
The tie is a repeat of the same stage last season when the first leg ended in a 2-2 draw before the Gunners earned their place in the Millennium Stadium showpiece following a 3-1 return triumph after extra-time.
This year the first leg will be held at the Emirates Stadium in the week commencing January 7, with the return at White Hart Lane two weeks later.
Elsewhere, holders Chelsea will play Everton with the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
Last year's winners overcame Liverpool by a 2-0 scoreline on Wednesday night courtesy of second-half strikes from Frank Lampard and Andriy Shevchenko to earn their place in the last four.
Meanwhile, Everton were 2-1 conquerors of West Ham United last week with Aiyegbeni Yakubu scoring a last minute winner at Upton Park.
