Jamie Redknapps weekend watch

Published: 20 Apr 2009 - 11:12:44

CREDIT TO COLEIt was fascinating watching Theo Walcott matching up to Ashley Cole at Wembley. Young Theo is going to be a huge talent, but Cole put in a superb full back performance. The criticism Ashley gets is vitriolic; displays like this only command respect.   TONY'S GOT HEART Congratulations to my old Bournemouth team-mate Tony Pulis, who hastaken Stoke to the brink of survival. Tony would leave his mark on anyopponent who tried to stand in his way. I knew more skilful players, but few with more heart. BARCA BASHER?Didier Drogba was ferocious against Arsenal. I wonder why the Chelsea striker hasn't played the same way all season. Surely it can't all be down to a change of manager. Whatever, Barcelona won't like to face The Drog in this mood. KEEP IT IN RESERVEI wonder what sort of team Arsene Wenger will put out against Liverpool tomorrow. The Champions League semi-final against Manchester United is now the game of their season, so will he rest his stars? That would really wind up Sir Alex. TIE OF THE ROUND Cravat-wearing Paul Tisdale is among the more fashionable managers. Now his Exeter team are trendy too and are close to back-to-back promotions. They are primed to follow Brentford out of League Two after a 1-0 win at Lincoln. FOX IN THE BOX Leicester are champions of League One. They are a big club in a smart ground and all eyes are on striker Matty Fryatt, who is lightning fast and on 31 goals. Leicester has had nothing like it since Gary Lineker. SMART MOVE, RAFA Bringing in Kenny Dalglish in any role is an inspired decision by Rafa Benitez. Kenny knows the Liverpool people and the Anfield set-up inside out. He's a hero there and one who could help share the pressure.
