Real give up on Fabregas

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has admitted defeat in his attempts to sign Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Calderon had promised to buy the 19-year-old, as well as AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben, during the club's presidential election campaign.
However, he has been unable to persuade the players' clubs to consider selling and now insists that Madrid have decided to look elsewhere because coach Fabio Capello and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic would prefer to strengthen other areas of the squad.
"I would have liked all three to have come," Calderon told the club's official website.
"But my first condition was that their arrival depended on the decisions of Capello and Mijatovic and right now they aren't a priority. I'm not going to interfere in these matters."
Real have already brought in Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro, Brazil midfielder Emerson and Holland striker Ruud van Nistelrooy during the close season.
