Real sell £13m Huntelaar to AC Milan after refusing to wait for Tottenham

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is on the verge of joining AC Milan in a £13million move from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants accepted the cut-price bid after growing tired of waiting for Tottenham Hotspur to formally make a bid. White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy initially held talks with Madrid more than six weeks ago and boss Harry Redknapp had continued to talk of his interest in Huntelaar despite signing Peter Crouch from Portsmouth. Spurs are thought to have been waiting for Darrent Bent's switch to Sunderland to be confirmed before pushing on for Huntelaar, but it appears they are too late, with AC Milan confirming they had agreed a deal with Madrid. The 25-year-old is due for a medical on Friday before signing a four-year deal worth an after-tax £60,000 a week at the San Siro. Milan general manager Adriano Galliani said: 'We have a deal with Real Madrid. All that's missing is the player's medical exams and the economic agreement with the player.' The Spaniards are taking a huge financial hit on the player they signed from Ajax for £17m in January as they will reportedly have to hand over another £6m to the Dutch club as part of a sell-on agreement. Meanwhile, reports in France say that Madrid special adviser Zinedine Zidane has privately revealed Arsenal had made a £17m bid for Huntelaar, who earlier this summer turned down a £15m move to Stuttgart.
