Ramsey hoping to face Arshavin

The Gunners player is expected to line up against Arshavin when Wales take on Russia in a World Cup qualifier in Cardiff on Wednesday. Arshavin was ruled out of Russia's victory over Liechtenstein on Saturday, when Guus Hiddink's side all but secured second spot in World Cup Group Four. They will further cement that spot if they beat Wales in the Millennium stadium this week. But for Ramsey, 18, there is still the chance that he can come face to face with his Emirates colleagues, Arshavin, who was included in the Russia party that arrived in Cardiff on Monday, despite his injury problems. Ramsey is relishing the possible confrontation with club-mate Arshavin, saying: "I do not know the situation over Arshavin's fitness. He came off against Manchester United at Old Trafford last week with groin injury. "I don't know whether he will risk it against us on Wednesday, in some ways if he plays it makes it more difficult for us but I would still love to play against him in a really important game. "It's funny, I picked up a slight strain in the back of my knee in a recent game, and Arshavin was joking with me afterwards that I would not be able to face him against Russia. Now it's him who has an injury problem for the game. "He's a great player, a superb talent. Even though he is one of the smallest players in the Premier League, he's still a really great player. "He is excellent on the ball, is technically gifted and he scores plenty of goals. Seeing him last season score four at Liverpool was something special. "He is a great role model for the younger players at Arsenal like me. Everyone can learn from someone that good, and I do try to take note of what he does."
