Paris Saint Germain could ruin any potential Arsenal bid for Yohann Cabaye according to The Independent.

According to The Independent, arsenal lodged a bid of £10 million on Monday which saw Cabaye left out of the Magpies squad to face Chelsea. However, the bid was immediately rejected. PSG have been thought to be admirers of the Frenchman for some time and could bid up to £20million for his services, effectively overwhelming any Arsenal bid.

Conversely, The Daily Express claim that Arsenal will up their bid after seeing their first effort dismissed so candidly. Arsenal have enjoyed a tough start to The Premier League with a loss at Aston Villa. An away win at Turkish side Fenerbache will calm some fans nerves but will not hide the fact that replacements are needed this season.

Arsenal have enjoyed a torrid time in the summer transfer window so far and it looks as if they could be set to miss out on another target according to reports. So far this season Arsenal have lost out on Higauin to Napoli and Gustavo to Wolfsburg whilst being unsuccessful in their highly publicized pursuit of Luis Suarez.

Wenger has been criticized heavily in th window but remains confident the team will be strengthened. “In the last 16 years we have been very successful with transfers,” said Wenger. “The players who play are top quality players and you should never forget that. We are a bit short now but I don’t worry. Less than two weeks until the transfer window closes is a long time and 75 per cent of things happen in the last 10 days.”
