Premier League Matchday 10 Review: Heroes and Villains, Arsenal Stay Top

The Premier League saw 20 goals this weekend with at least 2 unexpected results. Manchester City hammered Norwich City 7-0 and Newcastle United surprised most with a deserved 2-0 win over Chelsea. The weekend showed some world class players while others will want to bury their heads in the sand.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: HEROES

1. In goal it has to be Begovic for Stoke – great goal with the help of the wind. Szczesny had a great game for Arsenal with some outstanding saves but nearly gifted Liverpool a goal when under no pressure he threw the ball straight to Sturridge.

2. Debuchy have one of his best games for Newcastle, he looked solid in defence and attacked with purpose. Improving as the season progresses.

3. Curtis Davies for Hull City was oustanding not for the first time this season. Looks solid and is playing the most consistent football of his career.

4. Jonas Olsson marshalled the West Brom back-line brilliantly. Dealt with the Crystal Palace attack with ease.

5. Ron Vlaar had an impressive game for Aston Villa and deserved the clean sheet.

6. David Silva ripped Norwich City apart with a goal and assist in Manchester City’s romping. He seems to be back to his best after last seasons dissapointment.

7. Yaya Toure cant stop scoring free kicks. He dominated the midfield for Manchester City and Norwich could not cope with him.

8. Aaron Ramsey is scoring for fun these days and added another spectacular strike in an important game against Liverpool.

9. Santi Cazorla opened the scoring against Liverpool, was sharpest to react to Giroud’s header that came back off the woodwork.

10. Robin Van Persie’s all round display was impressive in Manchester United’s win at Fulham. Scored one and could have had more.

11. Sergio Aguero ran Norwich City into the ground. Scored one and made two. Kept going even when the game was well and truly over.

VILLIANS

It is tempting to say the whole Norwich City team who didn’t turn up in their 7-0 thrashing by Manchester City but there were others who will want to forget this weekend.

1. John Ruddy conceeded seven goals at Manchester City – enough said.

2. Philippe Senderos was terrible for Fulham, caught out of position time and time again. Awful performance.

3. Kolo Toure had a game to forget for Liverpool. Lost Cazorla for the opener and failed to block Ramsey for the second. Also put his team under pressure with a dodgy back-pass to Skrtel.

4. Sebastien Bassong should be embarressed with this display. Passed the ball to Aguero under no pressure for Manchester City’s sixth goal.

5. Andrea Dossena was sent off for an awful stamp on Hull City’s David Meyler.

6. Lee Cattermole was deservedly sent off for his lunge on Elmohamady.

7. Bradley Johnson scored an own goal for Norwich City and did not compete.

8. Eden Hazard – suprising choice as he is normally excellent but dragged wide a great chance to level the game and had little impact.

9. Lucas had a game to forget for Liverpool. Gave the ball away too often and put his team under pressure.

10. Bryan Ruiz was never in the game and deservedly substituted. Not sure he even touched the ball.

11. Andreas Weimann could have won the game for Aston Villa. Clean through twice but could not finish.

Was anyone missed off either team? Have your say and please leave your comments below.
