Jonathan Woodgate is the highest profile casualty of the Premier League's new 25-man squad rule.[LNB]The former England defender cannot play until January even if he recovers from his persistent groininjury problems after being left off Tottenham's list along with goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.[LNB]Others who will be kicking their heels include former England Under 21 striker Luke Moore at WestBromwich Albion and Wolves' injured winger Michael Kightly.[LNB] Bloodied, but unbowed: Injury prone Jonathan Woodgate failed to make the cut at Spurs[LNB]But Blackburn striker Jason Roberts, told by boss Sam Allardyce he had no future at Ewood, has been included after a late move to Wigan broke down.[LNB]Chelsea named the smallest Premier League squad of just 19 senior players, but will top up their squad from Under 21 players, as will Arsenal, who named 20 but put the likes of Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere on their long list of kids.[LNB] In the running: Santa Cruz (left) HAS made the Man City squad, while Van der Vaart signed in time from Real Madrid to take his place in the Tottenham 25[LNB]The rule means every top-flight club has to declare a 25-man senior squad tochoose players from between now and the re-opening of the transferwindow in January.[LNB]Players who are under 21 at the turn of the year can play without being named in the squads.[LNB]Eightof the 25 need to be 'homegrown', which means they must have beentrained in England or Wales for three seasons before they turned 21.[LNB]Changes to the squads outside of the transfer windows can only be made in exceptional circumstances, such as when a move made be allowed because of a goalkeeping crisis.
