29 December 2010 22:18
Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the final three Barclays Premier League games of 2010 where the spotlight is on both ends of the table. Wigan will look to climb out the bottom three when they host title chasing Arsenal, Chelsea will hope to kick-start their championship defence when they host Bolton and Wolves will hope to move off the bottom when they travel to Liverpool. Email all your thoughts on the action to me at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk[LNB] Premier League (7.45pm unless stated)Chelsea 1-0 Bolton FT[LNB]Liverpool 0-1 Wolves (8pm) FT[LNB]Wigan 2-2 Arsenal FT[LNB]22.00: Down the bottom, despite picking up five points in their last three games, West Ham prop up the league after some big results from relegation rivals Fulham, Wigan and Wolves.[LNB]Mick McCarthy's side move up to 19th but only three points separate Wigan, now in 16th and the Hammers.[LNB]That's all from me, thank you for following sportsmail's coverage tonight and I wish you all the best heading into the new year.[LNB]21.59: Quick look at the table up top, Arsenal stay third, two points ahead of Chelsea who leapfrog Spurs into fourth.[LNB]Manchester United lead the table on goal difference ahead of Manchester City going into the new year.[LNB]21.57: Sportsmail's Des Kelly on twitter:[LNB]'the biggest surprise about Liverpool's defeat against Wolves is, er.. that it isn't that big a surprise, if you get my drift'[LNB]21.55: What an incredible end to the year, Wolves are off the bottom after their first win at Anfield in 26 years. Huge boos from what is left of the home crowd.[LNB]21.53: Full-time: Liverpool 0-1 Wolves[LNB]21.52: Fans pouring out of Anfield, one last attack from Reina's long punt.[LNB]21.51: For all the Aerial bombardment, Hennessey remains fairly untroubled, this feels like a cup tie, with the desperate route one tactics.[LNB] Feeling the strain: Roy Hodgson could barely watch his Liverpool side[LNB]21.49: Wolves under the cosh now with Sotirios Kyrgiakos staying in attack for Liverpool, gung-ho is the only way for the hosts.[LNB]21.48: There will be four minutes of injury time.[LNB]21.46: That is ballsy! Liverpool win a free-kick 25 yards out on the left and as Steven Gerrard whips the ball in the box all the Wolves players run out allowing Martin Skrtel to head home.[LNB]Offside is the instant shout and it turns out to be a well worked trap, with Skrtel and two others caught out.[LNB]21.45: Very, very quiet inside the stadium, Liverpool fans very anxious, their team is just not creating anything.[LNB]21.43: So just Anfiled left for 2010, Liverpool have six minutes to find an equaliser. In truth Wolves are still interested in getting a second themselves, Ebanks-Blake has put in a fantastic shift for the visitors.[LNB]21.42: Martinez would have bit your hand off for that result after N'Zogbia's sending off but Wigan once again bounce back from a setback and will be delighted with that result.[LNB]21.40: Full-time: Wigan 2-2 Arsenal[LNB]21.38: Not a vintage performance form Chelsea, but they would have done anything just to take three points. Into injury time at the DW Stadium.[LNB]21.36: Full-time: Chelsea 1-0 Bolton[LNB]21.32: Sorry more subs. Sub Wilshere is back off again for Theo Walcott. Not long for the Gunners to respond to that equaliser.[LNB]21.31: Changes for Arsenal too who bring on Samir Nasri for Arshaivin with Wigan  bringing on Maynor Figueroa for Ronnie Stam.[LNB]James McCarthur is also on for the hosts.[LNB] Back in it: Gary Caldwell (right) shows his delight after Squillaci's own goal[LNB]21.30: Bolton going for it. Martin Petrov, Mark Davies and Ivan Klasnic are all on while Joe Cole is on for Raul at Anfield.[LNB]21.29: Liverpool are not exactly putting Wolves under huge pressure, for a side with such a dreadful away record you would expect some nerves and I just wonder how much of this is a poor Liverpool performance rather than an upturn in fortunes on the road for Wolves.[LNB]21.26: GOAL! WIGAN 2-2 Arsenal[LNB]Maybe mountaineering is a Martinez specialty. Hugo Rodallega whips in a corner and Gary Caldwell and Sebastien Squicllaci contest the header with the latter nodding into his own goal.[LNB]21.24: Stupid from Nzogbia, in an off-the-ball incident he head-butts Jack Wilshere with Marouane Chamakh and Sebastien Squillaci absolutely furious as they look on.[LNB]Roberto Martinez will be furious, a difficult task to get back into this is now going to seem like climbing the western ridge of Everest.[LNB]21.23: RED CARD (Charles N'Zogbia, Wigan)[LNB]21.20: Roy Hodgson makes a change with Ryan babel replacing David Ngog, who has been useless.[LNB] What's going on? David Ngog shows his frustration after Wolves' opening goal[LNB]21.19: Big save from Lukasz Fabianski in the Arsenal goal, N'Zogbia gets behind the defence but his eventual shot is well blcoked by the Pole.[LNB]21.17: Not much happening at Stamford Bridge either, that goal has not settled Chelsea at all and Bolton will still fancy their chances of taking something from this game.[LNB]21.15: GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 WOLVES[LNB]Awful, truly awful defending. Ebanks-Blake plays a through ball behind a very flat and static Liverpool back four and Stephen Ward confidently slides the ball under an onrushing Reina into the bottom corner to give the away side a shock lead.[LNB]21.13: Sorry folks all the action is at Anfield at the moment, at the DW Stadium it's as you were with Arsenal and Wigan having a game that has pre-season written all over it, minus the usual warm temperatures.[LNB]21.10: Worrying moment for Liverpool, Wolves are applying a spell of pressure and Ebanks-Blake does well to swivel and cross from the left, with Ronald Zubar doing well to control it and then fire towards the bottom corner that Pepe Reina does well to save.[LNB] Pounced: Florent Malouda celebrates putting Chelsea ahead[LNB]21.07: Interesting banner at Anfield, 'Rafa come back' is the call and I will post a picture up if I can get it.[LNB]21.04: Liverpool and Wolves are back underway.[LNB]21.02: GOAL: CHELSEA 1-0 Bolton[LNB]There you have it. Drogba storms in on goal before playing through Florent Malouda who buries past Jasskelainen. Shouts of offside on Drogab receiving the ball from Micahel Essien but it looks good to me.[LNB]20.59: They could not be much worse Chelsea, but after a barren first-half for chances this games has livenend up. Bolton are attacking too but an open game is only going to favour the Blues.[LNB] Wing play: Fernando Torres scampers down the flank under pressure from Richard Stearman (left)[LNB]20.56: Arsenal have dropped down a gear in the second-half as both sides contest quite a scrappy midfield battle, not too much to speak of there.[LNB]20.53: 'In hospital in Canada following the Lfc match through your updates several hours after the birth of our new son. James Martindale - will hopefully grow up to play in EPL and in 20 years be able to bring home LFC's 19th title.[LNB]Dare to dream...Thanks for the Updates.'[LNB]Thank you for following JP Martindale and congratulations to you. You're showing huge patience to wait that long for your next title though![LNB]20.51: Nearly instant magic from Ancelotti. Within the opening moments, Didier Drogba's takes a shot from an angle and although he should score, Jussi Jaaskelainen does superb to tip it onto the post before Bolton clear to safety.[LNB]20.50: We are back underway in the 7.45pm kick-offs.[LNB]20.49: And yes there were boos and plenty of them.[LNB]20.48: Half-time: Liverpool 0-0 Wolves[LNB]20.47: Carlo Ancelotti is clearly furious, the Chelsea players are back out very early for the second-half.[LNB]20.46: Will be interesting to hear the reaction at Anfield, Liverpool have had the better chances but Wolves have been the better side.[LNB] Battle: Stuart Holden (centre-left) is challenged by Ramires[LNB]20.43: Probably another reason for those boos at Stamford Bridge. There was not one shot on target from either side during the first-half.[LNB]That is poor whatever way you look at it.[LNB]20.40: Some anxious faces at Anfield too, Wolves have really taken the game to Liverpool and are getting into too many promising positions for comfort.[LNB]20.38: Great show of character from Arsenal to come back from a goal down. Ever since Arshavin turned on the magic it's been one way traffic.[LNB]20.36: Half-time: Wigan 1-2 Arsenal[LNB]20.35: Boos at Stamford Bridge and I cannot say I'm surprised, the home side have been woeful and Owen Coyle will fancy his Bolton side of maybe stealing a win.[LNB]20.34: Half-time: Chelsea 0-0 Bolton[LNB]20.32: Chelsea seem completely out of ideas, nobody is taking this game by the scruff of the neck. [LNB]You look to the subs bench and only Salmon Kalou has the experience and skill to have an impact on this.[LNB] Acrobatics: Andrey Arshavin volleys in Arsenal's equaliser[LNB]20.30: GOAL! Wigan 1-2 ARSENAL[LNB]It's Russian roulette stuff at the DW Stadium. Arshavin is again involved as he slips through Nicklas Bendtner, who after peeling off Antolin Alcaraz finishes well into the corner.[LNB]20.27: The away side are biting at Anfield, Wolves are finding plenty of joy down the wings but despite the bombardment of crosses, none have found a Wolves attacker in the box.[LNB]20.24: GOAL! Wigan 1-1 ARSENAL[LNB]He cops a lot of stick the Andrey Arshavin but that is a brilliant finish. Nicklas Bendtner's shot is well stopped by Ali Al Habsi but the Russian shows some neat acrobatics to fire home the rebound from just over 12 yards.[LNB]20.21: Very open at Anfield, Liverpool look very dangerous every time they go forward especially when Torres is involved.[LNB]But the away side have got behind the Reds defence a few time and could prove very handy on the counter.[LNB] Reach out: Stephen Ward (left) attempts to close down Martin Skrtel[LNB]20.17: Any Chelsea fans out there hoping your team is back up to speed, all I can say is it's not looking good.[LNB]They have been sloppy in possession and Bolton are growing in confidence scenting a wounded animal, as they have more of an influence on this game.[LNB]20.14: Wolves have settled at least, with Matt Jarvis' presence on the right wing enough to stop Liverpool piling forward.[LNB]20.11: Arsenal have already made a chance with Abou Diaby making way for Jack Wilshere, it's injury related and that is another blow for Arsene Wenger.[LNB]20.10: What a chance at Anfield! George Elokobi deflects a superb Fernando Torres ball into the path of Raul Meireles but Wayne Hennessey is out early to narrow the angle and force a fine stop.[LNB]20.08: Big chance for Bolton, Sam Ricketts drives down the wing and after his cross is poorly dealt with by Jose Bosingwa, Matthew Taylor takes control and drives a shot just across goal.[LNB]20.05: Liverpool looking sharp in the opening exchanges, Wolves not for the first time away from home this season have not got going.[LNB] Spot on: Ben Watson fires Wigan ahead against Arsenal[LNB]20.02: GOAL! WIGAN 1-0 Arsenal[LNB]Slight hint of controversy here. Laurent Koscielny brings down Charles N'Zogbia but not only does the Wigan attacker appear to dive but it also looks outside the box.[LNB]Either way Ben Watson steps up and converts into the unstoppbale side-netting area to score the Latic's first penalty of the season.[LNB]20.02: We are underway at Anfield.[LNB]20.01: PENALTY (Wigan)[LNB]19.59:  A minutes applause for Avi Cohen and Bill Jones at Anfield before we get this one going. Black armbands for Liverpool's players tonight.[LNB] Grapple: Johan Elmander (right) and John Terry furiously tussle for the ball[LNB]19.57: Scary moment for Chelsea, Kevin Davies forces John Terry into a hurried clearance in the home side's six yard box and teh blues just don't seem all there.[LNB]19.55: Teams waiting to come out from the tunnel at Anfield.[LNB]A quick word about Wolves' away record before this game.[LNB]They have just one point on the road this season, though that was in Merseyside against Everton in their first road trip of the season.[LNB]19.54: No such adventure from Bolton, it's the ol' two banks of four, with Chelsea dominating possession if not creating much.[LNB]19.51: Top response from Arsenal though, Andrey Arshavin lashes a volley over the bar following a terrific pass from Tomas Rosicky. Open game this.[LNB]19.48: Wigan are quick out the blocks and look set to get amongst the Gunners where and when they can.[LNB]Hugo Rodallega fails to make meaningful contact from a well hit Tom Cleverley as it clumsily bounces off his arm.[LNB]19.46: We are underway in the two 7.45pm kick-offs.[LNB]19.43: Much has been made of injuries and suspension to key players but little has been said about one of Bolton's missing men.[LNB]Lee Chung-yong has been one of the under celebrated players of this campaign and the midfielder will be missed by the Trotters as he represents South Korea in the Asia Cup.[LNB]19.40: I do love a stat and here is an interesting one from InfoStradaLive that does not read well for Chelsea fans.[LNB]Chelsea have not won any of their last 6 #EPL matches. Only 1 club clinched title after a streak like this (MUFC 92-93).[LNB]19.37: Manchester United are set to go into 2011 top of the table but Arsenal will have the final say.[LNB]Should the Gunners rack up a win by five goals or more, it will be the north London side who will end the year at the summit.[LNB]Mind you they have to win first, last season they threw away a two goal lead in the final 10 minutes to lose 3-2 at the DW Stadium.[LNB]19.34: With two of London's biggest clubs in action, click here to read Leo Spall's column about football in capital, including the rise of Theo Walcott and the main reasons why Carlo Ancelotti is still Chelsea manager.[LNB]19.31: Arsene Wenger makes no fewer than eight changes as Arsenal go hunting for an away victory to take them level on points with the Manchester clubs at the top of the Premier League.[LNB]Only one of those was enforced - Cesc Fabregas is suspended after picking up a fifth booking of the season in the 3-1 win over Chelsea - and the Gunners have a physical presence up front with Marouane Chamakh and Nicklas Bendtner.[LNB]By contrast Wigan boss Roberto Martinez makes just a single change to the side that triumphed at Wolves with Hendry Thomas returning from suspension and James McArthur dropping to the bench.[LNB]19.28: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard returns to the starting line-up after more than six weeks out with a hamstring tear to face Wolves at Anfield.[LNB]The England midfielder is the only change from the team which lost 3-1 at Newcastle on December 11, their last Barclays Premier League match as a result of two weather-enforced postponements.[LNB]Maxi Rodriguez makes way for Gerrard, which meant central midfielder Raul Meireles is pushed into a wide position.[LNB]Wolves, who have not won at Anfield in nearly 27 years, make one change of their own, with Matt Jarvis replacing Dave Edwards.[LNB]19.25: Even Anfield's news is in:[LNB]Liverpool v WolverhamptonLiverpool: Reina, Johnson, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Konchesky, Kuyt, Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles, Torres, Ngog. Subs: Jones, Agger, Aurelio, Cole, Maxi, Babel, Poulsen.Wolverhampton: Hennessey, Zubar, Stearman, Berra, Elokobi, Foley, Milijas, Hunt, Jarvis, Ward, Ebanks-Blake. Subs: Hahnemann, Edwards, Fletcher, David Jones, Bent, Mujangi Bia, Batth.Referee: Peter Walton (Northamptonshire)[LNB]19.24: Nicolas Anelka, Ramires and Jose Bosingwa return to the Chelsea starting XI for tonight's Barclays Premier League clash with Bolton.[LNB]The trio replace Salomon Kalou, John Obi Mikel and Paulo Ferreira as manager Carlo Ancelotti seeks the formula that would end the champions' worst top-flight run for 11 years.[LNB]Bolton hand a full Premier League debut to summer signing Rodrigo Moreno and also recall Sam Ricketts as they look for a shock win to take them above their fifth-placed opponents.[LNB]19.21: And from the DW Stadium:[LNB]Wigan v ArsenalWigan: Al Habsi, Stam, Gary Caldwell, Alcaraz, Gohouri, Thomas, Diame, Cleverley, Watson, N'Zogbia, Rodallega. Subs: Pollitt, Boselli, Steven Caldwell, Gomez, McArthur, Figueroa, McManaman.Arsenal: Fabianski, Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Sagna, Diaby, Rosicky, Denilson, Bendtner, Chamakh, Arshavin. Subs: Szczesny, Nasri, Vela, Walcott, Wilshere, Djourou, Clichy.Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)[LNB]19.18: As they lineup from Stamford Bridge:[LNB]Chelsea v BoltonChelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda. Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Kalou, Van Aanholt, Bruma, Kakuta, McEachran.Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Ricketts, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Moreno, Holden, Muamba, Taylor, Kevin Davies, Elmander. Subs: Bogdan, Petrov, Mark Davies, Klasnic, Blake, Alonso.Referee: Mike Jones (Cheshire)[LNB]19.15: So much for the predictable Premier League, as 2010 comes to a close we hardly look any closer to piecing together any puzzles.[LNB]At a time of year where two or three sides are normally left challenging for the title, we have five. Where the club bottom at Christmas is usually doomed, West Ham are already eyeing safety.[LNB]It's been a season that has twisted more time than I can remember already but is there any more drama left in the 2010 tank? Team news on the way.[LNB] Finish 2010 on a high: Drogba will hope to fire Chelsea back into the title race with a win over the Trotters[LNB]  Watch out Ancelotti... Ex-Liverpool boss Benitez is tipped for Chelsea!Jamie Redknapp: Arsenal prove they have the armoury to win the title Parma target Macheda and Borini as Wigan and Newcastle eye Bojinov[LNB]  Explore more:People: Kevin Davies, Gary Caldwell, Jose Bosingwa, Marouane Chamakh, Nicklas Bendtner, Maxi Rodriguez, Matt Jarvis, Steven Gerrard, Nicolas Anelka, Roberto Martinez, Carlo Ancelotti, Theo Walcott, John Terry, Matthew Taylor, Ben Watson, Andrey Arshavin, Laurent Koscielny, Jack Wilshere, Fernando Torres, Wayne Hennessey, Owen Coyle, Didier Drogba, Pepe Reina, Ryan Babel, David Ngog, Roy Hodgson, Martin Petrov, Joe Cole, Ivan Klasnic, Martin Skrtel Places: Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, London, United Kingdom, South Korea
