Pires mulls future
Robert Pires, the former Arsenal and World Cup winner, is mulling over whether to make a return to playing or retire from football.
The 38-year-old has been offered the chance to join French first division side Valenciennes in the January transfer window.
"I'm on stand-by. I want to go on but I'm also keen to retire," the veteran winger said here on Wednesday.
Pires began his career with Reims before spells with Metz, Arsenal, Villarreal and Aston Villa, for whom he played nine matches last season.
He is currently without a club.
He won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France and three FA Cup titles and two Premier League titles during his time with Arsenal.
