PFA Fans' Player of the Season award: The case for Arsenal nominee Alexis Sanchez

Another player who has impressed in his debut season in English football is Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal are on course for their best Premier League finish for a decade and part of the reason for that is Sanchez’s form in front of goal. The Chilean attacking midfielder was named PFA Fan’s Player of the month in October in which he scored three goals and racked up one assist. Sanchez scored in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Hull at the start of the month, and provided the assist for Danny Welbeck’s stoppage time equalising goal. Sanchez followed this up with both goals the following week as Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0. Sanchez has continued to score consistently throughout the season and he has scored 16 goals so far as well as providing eight assists for his teammates.

Sanchez scored twice in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Reading, and the north London club will meet Aston Villa at Wembley at the end of this month for a chance of silverware. Sanchez’s fine form for Arsenal also saw him included in the Premier League team of the year.
