Perez promises to sign Ronaldo, Fabregas and Alonso as former Madrid chief plots Real revolution

Real Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez will not be welcome in England any time soon. The former Bernabeu chief's election campaign rests on his bold promise to sign a trio of Barclays Premier League stars - Cristiano Ronaldo, Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso. The three stars' respective employers - Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool - are sure to be unhappy at the potentially destabilising effect Perez's manifesto could have on their players, especially as all three clubs are chasing trophies. Perez also plans to deliver Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger, whose side face United in the Champions League semi-final second leg tonight, as his new coach in ultra-ambitious plans, according to the Daily Mirror. Ronaldo's Real move was previously the pet subject of the current regime, but Perez will further anger Sir Alex Ferguson by reviving interest in the Old Trafford ace. Fabregas would be a major coup although he again pledged his future to the Gunners yesterday, while Alonso's potential availability has been flashed round Europe for the past few days. Perez wants to lure Wenger to work with sports director Jorge Valdano in a dream ticket to get Real back on top in Spain. Real lost 6-2 to bitter rivals Barcelona at the weekend.
