Per Mertesacker snubs Arsenal to stay at Werder Bremen

Arsenal target Per Mertesacker has closed the door on a move to north London by pledging his future to Werder Bremen. [LNB]Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has been strongly linked with a £10million swoop for Mertesacker but the Germany defender, under contract until 2012, is staying with the Bundesliga outfit.[LNB] The 25-year-old topped Wenger's list of targets after Sol Campbell and William Gallas left the Emirates.
