Pepe Reina warns Liverpool: Improve or Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard could go

Pepe Reina has warned that Liverpool must improve fast or risk losing the likes of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.[LNB]The Anfield goalkeeper insists new Anfield owners NESV must follow up their ambitious talk with signings to make the Reds more competitive.[LNB] World class: Reina is put through his paces with Spain as Iker Casillas (far left) looks on[LNB]Reina's own future has come under the spotlight as Liverpool languish in ninth and nine points behind BarclaysPremier League leaders Chelsea.[LNB]And he warned: 'We have to finish this season in a better position than we are at the moment and make sure we build for the next years and try to be competitive. If not, it's going to be difficult for them to keep these kind of players.[LNB]Keep them happy: Liverpool stars Gerrard and Torres (right)[LNB]'We have to be sure that we deliver better performances otherwise it's going to be really, really, really difficult (to finish in the top four).'[LNB]Liverpool are scouring Europe for at least one new striker in January and manager Roy Hodgson knows all areas can be improved.[LNB]Reina admitted: 'We are not probably as strong as Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham can be so that's why we have to make sure we build a better squad.[LNB]'At the moment, it's almost impossible to compete for nine months against Chelsea, for example, and that is what I want.[LNB]'The clubs all around England are building proper squads. We have to do the same and we have to be able to compete.'[LNB]Reina heads to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham on Sunday looking to break a club record.
