Pearce urges Wilshere patience

England Under 21s head coach Stuart Pearce has warned that 'overhyping' Jack Wilshere could be detrimental to the Arsenal teenager. Wilshere's impressive displays for the Gunners during pre-season have led to suggestions he could even make Fabio Capello's England squad for the 2010 World Cup. But Pearce, who handed Wilshere his Under 21 debut against Holland on Tuesday night, has called for patience over the 17-year-old midfielder's development. "I find it a little bit sad that we overhype players, because I know what is around the corner," Pearce told the Daily Telegraph. "It just shows the folly of it. From our 'golden generation' to our 'lost generation', I have seen it many times. "It is very unfair on the player - you should just let the player develop. "People are talking up his chances, but how many of them have watched him at the Under 17 or Under 19 championships? "I have, and he needs to be allowed to blossom in his own time. I will look after him, as will Fabio."
