Patrick Vieira Joins Dennis Bergkamp On Short-list For Arsenal Role

Patrick Vieira has joined Dennis Bergkamp on a short-list to replace Liam Brady in a youth role at Arsenal.

Patrick Vieira is in line for a sensational return to Arsenal after Arsene Wenger sounded him out about the job of replacing Liam Brady as head of youth development. Former Arsenal skipper Vieira, who won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups under Wenger, has joined fellow Gunners legend Dennis Bergkamp on a shortlist of potential candidates.

The 36-year-old is understood to be tempted by a reunion with Wenger and the chance to return to work on the training pitch rather than continue with the largely ambassadorial role he performs at City.

Brady, 56, who starred for the Gunners in the 1970s and has been in his current role for 17 years, has established Arsenal’s academy as one of the finest in world football.

Arsenal fans are believed to favour Dennis Bergkamp over Vieira for the role, due to the Frenchman's work with Inter and Manchester City. Despite being a collosal captain in Arsenal's most successful period fans seem to favour the approach of Dutch legend Dennis Bergkamp. The likes of Henry, Adams and Bergkamp are all huge Arsenal legends, but there is a slight feeling that Vieira is not seen in the same light as his former team mates.
