Shadow: Manchester City's Patrick Vieira[LNB]Patrick Vieira admits he is a shadow of the box-to-box midfielder that made him an Arsenal idol.[LNB]The 33-year-old, who signed for Manchester City last month after almost five years away from the Barclays Premier League, knows he will have to pick up his game if he is to make the France squad for the World Cup this summer.[LNB]But Vieira has to sit out City's next three games because of a suspension picked up for a petulant kick on Stoke's Glenn Whelan last week.[LNB]The Senegal-born star spent nine years at Arsenal before leaving for Juventus in 2005. He told L'Equipe: 'Today, I am a different player, in the sense that perhaps I'm not as much focused on forward play as I was at Arsenal.[LNB]'I feel I still have room for improvement. I would say that I am at 60 or 70 per cent of my ability.'[LNB]Vieira left Inter Milan in the transfer window because of fears that a lack of regular football would scupper his hopes of playing at the World Cup.[LNB]Injuries have restricted him to four appearances for City and he will find out next week whether this is enough to secure a place in the France squad to face Spain in Paris on Wednesday week.[LNB]'If I'm called, I'm called,' he said. 'If I am not, nothing will change my goal. I understand that playing for France is not given to anyone. It has to be deserved.'[LNB]Vieira was part of the glorious 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 teams and believes Les Bleus have a shot at glory this summer despite a poor qualifying campaign.[LNB]'The France team has great potential. After that, there is little margin between having big potential and winning the competition.'[LNB] Benitez breathes sigh of relief as Manchester City come to town without TevezManchester City boss Mancini reveals disappointment at suspended VieiraMourinho set to be at centre of summer tug-of-war between Man City and RealVieira banned for three matches after accepting charge over kick on WhelanCraig Bellamy could be back against Liverpool, claims Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini as he plays down rift with strikerTevez and Vieira to miss Manchester City's showdown with LiverpoolMascherano insists Liverpool must beat Man City in their Sunday showdownMANCHESTER CITY FC
