Olivier Giroud voted best-looking Premier League player in highly unscientific survey

In a poll that will have come as no surprise to Olivier Giroud, Olivier Giroud has been voted the Premier League’s most attractive footballer.

The Arsenal striker came out on top from a list of 300 players who were shown to 250 American women (who presumably didn’t know who they were) and rated purely on their physical attractiveness. Yes, we know 250 is a very small number – even Paddy Power, who conducted the research, acknowledge it’s not terribly scientific.

So to put it another way, Olivier Giroud is the most attractive Premier League player according to a very small and quite possibly unrepresentative sample of American women. We assume there’s another poll around the corner which includes gay men…

Giroud received his award from team-mates Mathieu Debuchy and David Ospina, who luckily didn’t feature in the rankings or that could have been awkward.

You can pretend you’re surprised, Olivier – we all know you think you’re gorgeous.

Sunderland’s Santiago Vergini was second in the hotness stakes, while Matty James came third.

Well, sportswomen have to put up with this sort of thing all the time – why not the men?

Here’s the (not very ethnically diverse, it has to be said) most attractive XI from the survey.

The overall most attractive team was Burnley, coming in ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool. At the wrong end of the table were Newcastle, Swansea and West Brom.

Okay, now that’s over with, let’s get back to the actual football.
