Old Chelsea boy Didier Drogba sinks Arsenal once again

Against Galatasaray Arsenal had their fully monty out and if their performances at the Emirates Cup are anything to go by, even qualifying for the Champions League next season will be a tall order given every other club has spent money except for Arsene Wenger. It was good seeing Didier Drobga in a Premiership stadium again. Drogba was and still is class. Ok, yes he fell a bit theatrically to the ground in the second half but there was contact. His second goal was sublime. Just a thought - but why didn't Arsene sign him? Sorry I digress..

Despite taking the lead with a lucky cross-come-shot courtesy of Theo Walcott, Arsenal lacked creativity and maybe the gruelling tour to the Far East has taken its toll on the players? Maybe Arsene should take a leaf out of Fatih Terim’s book, as even Galatasaray had their two signature signings in Drogba and Sneijder (almost tempted to add Eboue’s name to that list) on display to the delight of a 20,000 strong Turkish support in the Emirates.

There is little doubt that Drobga is the nemesis of Arsenal. His goal scoring record against Arsenal has always been phenomenal and even in a Galatasaray shirt he still managed to bag two goals.

Watching the game I overheard one fans comment - re the clubs summer transfer activity - and I believe it summed up perfectly the questionable logic Arsene Wenger applies to his transfer dealings (of late). It may be unfair and early to judge Sanogo but there was no sparkle or promise shown in his first Emirates outing. The fan next to me said “I really don’t understand Arsene’s logic – what has he gained by selling the likes of Gervinho and bringing in Sanogo. I cannot see any value in this transfer.”

With Tottenham losing to Monaco 5-2 a day earlier the storm clouds are gathering over North London footballing giants.

Do you think Arsene needs to buy anyone, if so who? Or do we have the right team and balance to prove people wrong?
