No progress for van Persie

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has revealed that no headway has been made in discussions over a new contract.

Van Persie, 25, has two years remaining on his existing deal with the Gunners but is hoping to secure a longer-term contract.

The Netherlands striker ended the season as the club's 20-goal top-scorer but is yet to see the talks over a new deal progress.

"The club and I have not been able to make any headway," he said.

"But maybe I will soon have something new to report.

"That is all I have to say on this now."

Van Persie joined the Gunners from Feyenoord in 2004 and, despite struggling with injuries, has made over 150 first-team appearances.
