New Gunners deal for Sagna

Arsenal have handed France defender Bacary Sagna a new long-term contract.

The 25-year-old full-back made 40 appearances for the Gunners in his first season at the Emirates Stadium after joining in a £7million transfer from Auxerre last summer.

But despite still having plenty of time to run on his existing deal, Sagna has now agreed a new contract which ties him to the north London club until 2014.

"I love Arsenal, they are a great club," he said.

"The manager is also very good and next season we will be fighting for all the trophies."

Sagna was a surprise omission from France coach Raymond Domenech's final 23-man squad for Euro 2008.
