Mowbray wants some fortune

Tony Mowbray is hoping Celtic enjoy some good fortune of their own in the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Arsenal after bad luck cost them two goals in their first-leg defeat at Parkhead on Tuesday night. The Hoops were holding their own until two minutes from half-time when Cesc Fabregas' drive from 30 yards took a wicked deflection off William Gallas' back to put the visitors ahead. Then, after the break, Gunners all but sealed their place in the group stages when Celtic skipper Gary Caldwell put the ball past Hoops keeper Artur Boruc in his attempt to cut out a Gael Clichy cross. "Let's not disguise the fact that it is a big ask for us," Mowbray said. "The secret is to score the first goal and be positive and if we do that it will be interesting to see what their mentality is and how their team and supporters react." He added: "You would think that they would think the job is automatically done but we have to be positive, score the first goal and see how the game unfolds. "If we score the first goal it makes them edgy and nervous. "Hopefully somebody hits a free-kick from 25 yards and it hits one of them on the back and goes in the bottom corner. "If you concede the first goal you are 3-0 down and you are not going to score four goals at the Emirates." Mowbray added: "Both goals were very difficult to take. You can't deny their quality, they are one of the best teams in the world yet I can't remember them having a shot on goal in the first half. "Then they get a free-kick 30 yards out, Gallas is trying to get out the way and it goes off him and in the bottom corner. "If they have a 15-pass move and someone cuts inside and smashes the ball in the bottom corner you would think, 'wow, what a bit of quality' but they never did that and didn't look like doing that. To be fair, neither did we."
