Mesut Ozil has restated his continued admiration for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger following reports suggesting he may leave the club this summer if the Gunners' long-serving French boss stays on.

The German midfielder, who has more than two years remaining on his Arsenal contract, distanced himself from suggestions he might reconsider his future there - depending on Wenger's situation.

Ozil indicated on Twitter that he retains much faith in the veteran manager.

"Have seen the media reports today," the 27-year-old posted. "Arsene Wenger was a big reason for me joining Arsenal - this hasn't changed! #Respect #AFC."

While domestic top-flight football takes a break, Ozil is set to play for Germany against England in next weekend's friendly in Berlin.
