Manchester United's Chris Smalling confident of beating Arsenal
Chris Smalling does not believe Manchester United have any reason to fear Arsenal on Monday night when the Barclays Premier League's top two meet at Old Trafford.[LNB]Although they have lost three times on home soil this season, Arsenal have been impressive on their travels, winning five on the trot, including matches at Manchester City, Everton and Aston Villa, all places where United have been held this term.[LNB]The record ensures the Red Devils will be on their guard.[LNB] No fear: Chris Smalling is confident United can stop Arsenal's unbeaten away run[LNB]But as they have only failed to take maximum points on home soil once this term - when West Brom battled back from two goals down - Smalling feels the visitors are the ones who should be concerned.[LNB]'When the fixtures first came out everyone saw this as a pivotal period,' said Smalling, recognising United must tackle Chelsea at Stamford Bridge six days after tackling the Gunners. 'Monday is a massive game but we don't have any need to fear them.[LNB]'We will have 70,000 fans cheering us on. They should be intimidated more than we are.'[LNB]Certainly United can take confidence from their unbeaten record. Given they had hardly set the world alight until that seven-goal thrashing of Blackburn a fortnight ago, the United camp presumably feel their chances of reclaiming the title are now pretty decent.[LNB] Road runners: Arsenal have won five in a row away from home, including wins at Everton, Aston Villa and Manchester City[LNB]Not that Smalling believes it will take a repeat of Arsenal's 'Invincibles' campaign of 2004 to do it. In fact, the England Under-21 star does not believe that stellar season will ever happen again.[LNB]'I am not sure we will ever see a team go through a whole season unbeaten again,' he said. 'So many sides are losing matches unexpectedly now you would have to applaud any team who did do it. For us at the moment, it is just about continuing the momentum.[LNB]'We didn't get into top gear during the first month of the season.
