Attracting attention: Leonardo Bonucci of AS Bari

Manchester United could be set to throw their hat into the ring alongside Manchester City and Arsenal in the pursuit of Bari defender Leonardo Bonucci.

Both City and the Gunners are preparing bids for the 22-year-old while Sir Alex Ferguson is tracking his progress.

Bonucci made his international debut for Italy last month and has been one of the stand-out performers in Serie A this season.

City have had their Champions League hopes scuppered by the failure of Kolo Toure and Joleon Lescott to live up to their lofty price-tags.

Meanwhile, at 6'3'' Bonucci is seen as an ideal foil to the smaller Arsenal duo of William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen.

Bonucci is making a strong case for World Cup inclusion and as a result, all of the managers will likely move quickly to secure the services of the player before his stock rises.
