Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson refuses to rule out move for Mesut Ozil

In demand: Ozil is being courted by United, Real Madrid and Arsenal [LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson last night refused to rule out a move for Mesut Ozil after it emerged that Manchester United are in talks with Werder Bremen to sign the Germany midfielder. [LNB]Ferguson was at Craven Cottage on Saturday as Werder played Fulham - United's opponents in their second game of the season - but it is believed that Ozil was the focus of his attention.[LNB]He said: 'At the moment we have got a great squad, I don't need to add to it. I trust them. There are a lot of clubs interested in Ozil.' [LNB]Asked whether United are one of them, Ferguson said: 'I didn't say that. I don't know.' [LNB]United are said to be desperate to sign a star from this summer's World Cup. Werder are holding out for £20million and negotiations with several clubs could go on right up to transfer deadline day. [LNB]Ozil's agents have also spoken to Barcelona and Real Madrid, but the 21-year-old is believed to have concerns over the first-team opportunities available at the Spanish clubs.[LNB]Ferguson was delighted with United's performance at Wembley on Sunday, particularly the three goals from Antonio Valencia, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov, and believes it proves his side will be serious title contenders if they steer clear of injuries.[LNB]He said: 'We are going into this season, touch wood, without any real major injuries and if we can keep this present squad together then it puts us in a really good position.[LNB] Touch of class: Despite a quiet afternoon, Dimitar Berbatov scored a stunning third for United against Chelsea[LNB]'Keep them all in good shape and we're in with a really good chance.' [LNB]Ferguson's players shared his view that the win showed United can regain the title they lost to Chelsea in May.
