Roberto Mancini insists Patrick Vieira still has a key role to play in Manchester City's season, even though the Frenchman must wait at least another week for his debut.[LNB] Vieira, 33, sits out tomorrow's home game against Portsmouth with a calf injury, meaning he will have missed six games since signing from Inter Milan on a pay-as-you-play deal earlier this month.[LNB] Wait and see: Patrick Vieira will not be rushed back into action[LNB] [LNB] Mancini believes City will reap the long-term benefit by resisting the temptation to rush him back.[LNB] He said: 'Patrick is very unlucky because the last game he played with Inter (against Chievo) he was the best player on the pitch, but he got a kick on the calf.[LNB] 'We don't want to risk Patrick because when he starts playing I want him to play for a long time. He can be very important for us.'[LNB] Meanwhile, City are believed to be close to acquiring 40 acres of land close to Eastlands. Plans are at a very early stage, but it could be used to extend the stadium in future, re-locate the club's training ground, or build a hotel and restaurant complex. [LNB] [LNB]
