Lupoli seals Gunners exit

02 Jul 2007 - 07:56:47

Italian striker Arturo Lupoli has completed his free transfer move from Arsenal to Serie A side Fiorentina.

The 20-year-old joined the Gunners from Parma in 2003 but struggled to break into the first-team picture at Premier League level.

Lupoli made just nine appearances for Arsene Wenger's side and failed to start a single league game.

However, he came to the attention of Fiorentina while on loan in the Championship at Derby County last season.

Lupoli found the net 11 times and helped the Rams win promotion back to the top-flight.

"Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Arturo for his contribution to the club and wish him the best of luck during for the future," read a club statement.

"Arsenal supporters may have seen this transfer being announced in the media for some time.

"However, would like to reiterate that Arsenal Football Club only communicates transfers when they are completed."
