List of candidates to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal boss is growing by the week

I really hope this does not turn out to be Arsene Wenger’s last season in charge of his beloved Gunners. But then I’m not an Arsenal fan; just a football fan.

The unflappable Frenchmen has been a credit to Arsenal – and English football in general – and should go on beyond the 20-year mark he clocks up next month.

Okay, so he had his run-ins with Sir Alex – who didn’t? – and does not always see eye-to-eye with the media; who does?

Then there’s his relationship with Arsenal fans who, in addition to being starved of real success for the best part of a decade, continue to question his transfer policy.

Every window it seems to be the same old story, and a large section of supporters reckon the great man should call time on his Arsenal career when his contract runs out next summer.

All of which begs the question, who's the best man to fill Wenger's shoes and his seat in the dug-out?

There are already plenty of names in the frame, including three Arsenal legends who were at the peak of their playing powers during the glory days of the late 90s and early 2000s.

The bookies are already taking bets on Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry at 14/1 with Patrick Vieira being quoted at 16/1.

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and Dutch legend Frank de Boer weigh in at 12/1 whilst German boss Joachim Low (8/1) is second favourite. Leaving Bournemouth's Eddie Howe top of the imaginary pile at 7/1.

A number of Arsenal fans I have spoken to favour the no-nonsense Argentine Diego Simeon (currently 16/1) but who do you think is the best man to lead Arsenal into a new era?
