Jose Mourinho set to battle Chelsea for new Didier Drogba

Chelsea will have to fight former boss Jose Mourinho if they want to sign the striker described as the best young attacking prospect in Europe. [LNB]Anderlecht teenager Romelu Lukaku is in the same mould as Didier Drogba and Chelsea have been monitoring his situation closely. [LNB]The Premier League champions have not yet made a formal offer for the player although Anderlecht did turn down a bid of £17.5million from an unnamed club, believed to be Tottenham, in the summer. [LNB] Next big thing: Anderlecht starlet Lukaku (right) has been tipped for the top[LNB]Arsenal, Manchester City and most of the big clubs across the European leagues have also been linked with Lukaku but Chelsea and Mourinho's Real Madrid are in pole position for his signature. [LNB]The player, however, has made it clear he will stay where he is until the end of this season when he will have finished school and turned 18. I wish all dads were like this.' [LNB]Chelsea's trump card is Drogba as the Ivory Coast international is Lukaku's hero. [LNB]The youngster was pictured in a Chelsea shirt during a trip to Stamford Bridge earlier this year and said at the time: 'I'm very pleased to be here - unfortunately, I didn't meet Drogba. If ever one day I will cry, it will be when I sign for Chelsea.' [LNB]And Drogba has since played his part, saying: 'Yes, I called him. I received his phone number from Vincent Kompany. "You should sign for Chelsea," I told him.' [LNB]The 6ft 3in Lukaku is out of contract in 2012 and Anderlecht know they will need to sell next year to cash in.
