January rumours start here - Benzema and Lewandowski

Cut price deal on the cards?

Today's rumour mill is awash with tales of real Madrid offering Karim Benzema to us 'on the cheap' (20 million quid is the figure mentioned) in order to finance a move for Luis Suarez.

The Spanish club are squillions of pounds in debt (take note Michel Platini) and need to offload players before they recruit.

Benzema hasn't had a good season to date and Ancelotti might be looking to get rid.

This is always assuming that Suarez wants to go there - he might cut out the middlemen and come to London instead, but I wouldn't bet on him leaving Liverpool anytike soon.

Meanwhile Robert Lewandowski has stated that he has no agreement to join Bayern in the summer as has been reported, and that he fancies a move to the Premier League.

Of course the tabloids place the two Manchester clubs and Cheslea in the frame to sign him, but they're forgetting that Arsenal will spend big on the right player.

There'll be a lot more column inches devoted to this over the next couple of months, so enjoy the ride!
