Jamie Redknapp: Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli needs to grow up

[LNB]LIVEN UP MARIO We've seen more petulance than genius from Mario Balotelli since he came to England. I never liked being taken off, but you can't react like that after playing so poorly. He deserved to be subbed. The quickest he moved all game was when he was taken off! It's all right having the ability, but you must have the right attitude too. His team-mates won't tolerate that.[LNB] Bad day at the office: Balotelli (centre) was hauled off after a disappointing game [LNB] CAN CITY WIN IT? City can win the title. They have won five of their last seven league games away from home when scoring first, which shows they are tough to break down. They have momentum and decent fixtures coming up; they'll expect to beat Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Blackpool. But if they lose Carlos Tevez to a rival, it sends out the wrong message. [LNB]CHRISTMAS CARROLL Alan Pardew is a good manager and he will enjoy the chance to show it. Why wouldn't he take the Newcastle job? He enjoys the spotlight and after his last two positions - in the Championship with Charlton and with Southampton in League One, recovering from a 10-point deficit - this is a return to the big time. Andy Carroll is crucial to them. Keep him at all costs. [LNB] Handy Andy: Carroll scored in Newcastle's win over Liverpool on Saturday [LNB]HEY MR DJ If you want to see a footballer squeezing every moment out of his chance, look at Blackpool's DJ Campbell. Life in football came late to him after he arrived via the non-League scene as one of those FA Cup giant-killing heroes whose one day in the limelight is often followed by a return to obscurity. Not Campbell. He deserves his place at the top table.[LNB]UP AND DOWN-INGIt's been a horrible week for Gerard Houllier, who badly misjudged his return to Anfield, when he is still proving himself to Aston Villa supporters. A goal from Stewart Downing helped to dig him out of a very large hole. Downing's performances have been one of the few positives this campaign for Villa. That's six goals now this season for their top scorer. [LNB] In form: Downing has been in impressive touch for Villa this season [LNB]HOLDEN'S HOT Stuart Holden has made some impact at Bolton and is one of the finds of the season. The young American has energy and quality, all the attributes of a modern midfielder. I like his runs from deep. Holden looks at home in the Barclays Premier League and sums up Bolton's fabulous attitude.[LNB]NEW GUV'NOR? What a buzz that must have been for my old mate Paul Ince to see his son Thomas scoring an 86th-minute cracker in the 2-0 win over MK Dons. Incey is settling in at Notts County and deserves another chance as a manager. He has lots to offer the game. He'll enjoy having Thomas there on loan, but they will both hope it's for the short term, so the lad can return to Anfield and make a breakthrough.[LNB] On target: Ince Jnr scored for County in their win over MK Dons [LNB] Carlos Tevez explains his reasons for wanting to leave Manchester City after club reject transfer requestSpurs 1 Chelsea 1: Drogba only half punishes Gomes gaffesKenny Dalglish: Mancini's Manchester City prove why defence should come first [LNB] [LNB]  Explore more:People: Andy Carroll, Carlos Tevez, Paul Ince, Stewart Downing, Gerard Houllier Places: Newcastle, United Kingdom
