Jamie Carragher has admitted he's praying for divine intervention as Liverpool bid to salvage their season. [LNB]The Reds suffered yet another blow in their attempts to finally land the Barclays Premier League title as they were beaten 2-1 at home by rivals Arsenal. [LNB]Liverpool have won just three of their past 15 matches and now stand 13 points behind leaders Chelsea in the league table.[LNB] Another blow: Jamie Carrgher (right) looks on after Arsenal's equaliser[LNB]FOOTBALL'S DIVINE INTERVENTIONSDIEGO MARADONAThe Argentinian genius infamously declared that his opening goal against England in the 1986 World Cup was scored 'un poco con la cabeza de Maradona y otro poco con la mano de Dios' ('a little with the head of Maradona, a little with the hand of God').[LNB]MARVIN ANDREWSAndrews believed that Rangers' dramatic 2004/05 SPL title win was due to the work of a higher power. An 88th-minute goal in Celtic's match with Motherwell effectively handed his side the silverware, leading to Andrews' kneeling in the centre circle following victory over Hibernian wearing a t-shirt proclaiming the following line from the Gospel of Saint Luke: 'Things that are impossible with men are possible with God.'[LNB]TARIBO WESTA man of devout faith, West has followed the Lord's instruction wherever it has sent him since he discovered a footballing gift that allowed him to escape a life of poverty in Nigeria. That has led him to undertake extensive to charitable work with the homeless of Milan but also, more puzzlingly, to fulfil a God-given mission to save Derby from relegation in 2001. Following their survival, West proclaimed:  'God told me 'go and save the club'. I obeyed and Derby escaped relegation.'[LNB]They blew a half-time lead against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday as the pressure mounts on boss Rafa Benitez. It has also left Carragher desperately hoping that they do not end up empty-handed in May. [LNB]'We started off well in the first half and should have had a penalty but you have to give credit to Arsenal, they're a top side,' said Carragher.[LNB]'The manner of the goals we conceded were unfortunate but other than them scoring, I can't remember them having too much else, which is why it is so hard to take.[LNB] 'We've just got to dust ourselves down now and move to Wednesday. For the quality of the players and the stature of the club, we should be doing better. [LNB]'Statistics can change quickly and we have got to do that. It's tough at the moment but part of playing for Liverpool is having big character. [LNB]'That's what we need now. Between now and May it is going to be a grind at times but we have got to stick together, get through it and, as I'm doing, pray to God that at the end of the season there will be something worthwhile for what we've gone through.'[LNB] Carragher admits Liverpool do not have time on their side as they attempt to turn around their season. Next up is Wigan at home.[LNB] Tough times: Carragher battles with Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin[LNB]'We can't look for excuses,' he added. 'That's the way it is at toplevel football - we know that any little thing can get pounced up andthat's happening at the moment.[LNB] 'Wigan is a massive game for us.I've tried too many times down the years trying to work things out, sothere's no point looking further ahead than that.[LNB]'We'll just try and get three points on Wednesday and then move on to Portsmouth. We've got to look at ourselves and realise that we've got to do much better.[LNB] 'There's still some lads who aren't 100 per cent fit yet, so there'll be improvement to come but we need to get this team playing regular.'[LNB] Liverpool 1 Arsenal 2: Rafa fails to make cut!
