Jack Wilshere wants Andy Carroll with him for U21s

Jack Wilshere reopened the latest club-versus-country row by claiming Liverpool striker Andy Carroll should report for England Under 21 duty this summer.[LNB]The Arsenal midfielder insists Anfield's ?35million striker should join him for the European Championship in Denmark in June - claims that are not likely to be welcomed on Merseyside.[LNB] Let me play: Young Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere wants to represent England at this summer's Under 21 European Championships[LNB]England Under 21 manager Stuart Pearce last week revealed his intention to select Wilshere and Carroll for the tournament, despite the pair already featuring for the seniors.[LNB]Even though Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is firmly against the idea of Wilshere, 19, being part of Pearce's squad, the midfielder has declared his intention to travel to Denmark.[LNB]Carroll, who scored his first goal for the full England side against Ghana on Tuesday, is yet to state his intentions, but the thought of the club's most expensive signing playing over the summer will surely not please manager Kenny Dalglish.[LNB]But Wilshere insists the Liverpool striker should answer his country's call, saying: 'Should Carroll go to the Under 21 Championship? Definitely. He's had a big move this year and is progressing as a player all the time. The goal he scored will be massive for his confidence.[LNB]'He will be brilliant for the future of English football. 'If you look at the Germans, when they won the Under 21 tournament they went to the World Cup and had such a good tournament.
