Jack Wilshere can shine for Arsenal says Manuel Almunia
ARSENAL keeper Manuel Almunia believes Jack Wilshere's emergence is evidence that Arsene Wenger's policy of nurturing rather than buying talent is the right way to go.[LNB]Wenger has come under fire for his reluctance to match the spending of his top four rivals, preferring instead to rely on products from the Gunners? academy.[LNB]Wilshere, 17, is the latest to come to the fore and his displays in pre-season have given Arsenal fans fresh optimism.[LNB]Almunia said: ?In life, sometimes you have to bet if you are going to get a reward. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.[LNB] ?The boss has put in a lot of effort and risk to give opportunities to young players.[LNB]?If you look at Jack Wilshere, it is a reward. When everybody sees him play they are thankful to the boss for giving him an opportunity.[LNB]?If one player gets into the first team from 20 who he gave an opportunity, it is enough. I think the boss is very pleased about how Jack has done.?[LNB]He added: ?The way the boss has been working deserves some reward. It is not easy at all to give a chance to young players at such a big club as this. The boss will be rewarded soon, I hope.?[LNB]Almunia also admitted he was surprised to see Kolo Toure follow Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, saying: ?He was a big part of Arsenal and one of the greatest players for us in the last few years.?[LNB]Manuel Almunia was speaking at the launch of Arsenal?s charity of the season, Great Ormond Street Hospital children?s charity, where they hope to raise £500,000 for a lung function unit[LNB]
